Hungarian Team Claims Six Gold and Twelve Olympic Quotas in Szeged

Last week, the Hungarian team won six gold, four silver, and three bronze medals at the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Szeged.

Last week, more than 1100 contestants from 101 countries arrived to Szeged, where the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships were held.

Bálint Kopasz came in first in Men K–1 (Kayak) 1000m. In Women’s K-4 500m, the Hungarian team has been beaten only once since 2009; the team (Dóra Bodonyi, Erika Medveczky, Tamara Csipes, and Alida Dóra Gazsó) had the chance to stand up on the highest level of the podium.

In Women C–2 (Canoe) 500m, Kincső Takács and Virág Balla won a silver medal. In addition, our female canoe sprint athlete, Danuta Kozák finished third in K–1 500m.

At the Championships, he Hungarian team claimed twelve Olympic quotas in Szeged, less than one year before the kick-off to the Olympic Games.
