Man steals donations collected for those in need

A report was received by the Debrecen Police Headquarters on April 28, 2021, that an unknown person had stolen a donation collected from the room of a religious community for those in need. The staff of the Criminal Department of the Debrecen Police Headquarters identified the alleged perpetrator in one day, who interrogated him as a suspect. Investigators found hundreds of thousands of forints with the man, which were seized to ensure property recovery. His capture also revealed the theft of many. According to the available data, the 38-year-old local resident stole the money from the locker rooms of various sports facilities, from the wallets left unattended, between September 2020 and 28 April 2021.

The police detained Gyula B. in custody on the basis of a well-founded suspicion of committing 15 theft offenses and submitted a motion to arrest him, which was ordered by the Debrecen District Court on 3 May 2021.
