Monday’s stormy wind damaged roofs and trees

Firefighters were alerted at 241 locations on Monday due to stormy winds; mainly disrupted branches, fallen trees caused disruptions.

The National Directorate General for Disaster Management informed MTI on Tuesday morning that most reports came from Győr-Moson-Sopron, Fehér, Pest, and Komárom-Esztergom counties, but firefighters in the capital also had to intervene more than usual.

Most of the time, torn branches and fallen trees blocked the road, but in some cases, parked and moving vehicles were also damaged by the stormy wind. The chimneys and roof structures of several buildings have also been damaged by the wind, and firefighters have been alerted to thirty-one such incidents, they wrote.

On Monday afternoon, a stormy wind overturned a truck in Nemesvámos, Veszprém County, on the main road 77, and firefighters lifted the vehicle back onto its wheels with the help of a crane.

The OKF asked everyone in the stormy wind to pay close attention to the trees on the roads.
