A man from Várspércs beat his partner with a vacuum cleaner cable

Local News

The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the man who beat his partner several times with his bare hands and the vacuum cleaner cable for attempted crimes of grievous bodily harm and other crimes.

The accused and the victim have been living in a cohabiting relationship in the defendant’s house in Várspércs since November 2018. After a while, the man became jealous of the woman’s other relationships.

On April 14, 2019, the victim arrived home around 8:30 p.m., when the defendant began arguing with her because he was jealous and then punched her twice in the face with his fist. He also attacked the woman in the morning on April 15, 2019, hitting the victim at least four times across the body with a vacuum cleaner cable.

During these abuses, the woman suffered bruising and hemorrhagic injuries that healed within eight days, however, given the manner in which they were committed and the magnitude of the force, the defendant intended to cause injuries that healed in more than eight days.

The victim severed her cohabitation with the accused on 16 April 2019 due to the beatings and moved away from him. The defendant then, through an acquaintance, sent a message to the woman to take her clothes out of the house.

In compliance with this, the victim picked up her personal belongings and clothes around noon on 22 April 2019 and set off for her whereabouts. Along the way, the defendant was already waiting for herher and begged him to go back to him, which the victim refused. Because of this, the accused was enraged and hit her jaw twice with his fist.

The woman suffered minor injuries, and the defendant’s defiantly anti-community, violent behavior was apt to cause outrage and alarm to those who perceived it.

The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office charged the Debrecen District Court with an attempt to commit a serious assault, multiple misconduct and a minor assault. In the indictment, the district prosecutor’s office filed a motion to impose a prison sentence and an additional sentence of disqualification from public affairs.
