The meat plant in Debrecen will probably be closed in July – 400 people may become unemployed.
In early April, it turned out that they wanted to close down the meat plant in Debrecen because of the lack of money. In order to save the pant the local government started negotiations. Lajos Kósa declared that he would contact the Rural Development Minister to figure out what could be done instead of a closure.
July is the planned time of the closure which may leave 395 workers unemployed. The leaders of the company and the Meet Industry Workers’ Union met to negotiate a few days ago. The union keeps protesting against the closure but the company thinks it’s inevitable. Nevertheless, they agreed on a few points. The company will allow the early retirement of workers, promote their finding new jobs and pay compensation bonus.
